Additional Discussion Items (to be used after the sharing of stories):
- If people shared differing experiences about the denominational name, discuss how we can best deal with these differences?
- After sharing stories, discuss the meaning of names and naming.
- If the sharing of stories highlighted different experiences with the denominational name, discuss the place of compassion and understanding when dealing with controversial issues.
- If the sharing of stories highlighted similar experiences with the denominational name, brainstorm reasons why some do not share this similar experience.
- Read the two speeches written by Beth Glick-Rieman and Mia Miller titled "What's Love Got To Do With Names". Discuss the personal stories shared in each article.
